Want your opinion heard this convention season? I Approve This Message invites you to create a short video with your own political message. These videos will serve as a community generated media response to the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, giving people in and out of the Twin Cities area a voice and an opportunity to promote thinking about what participating in democracy looks like. All entries will be posted to the web on YouTube, with a selection accessible via on this website. Additionally, selected videos will be screened at the Walker Art Center and other venues toward the end of the summer.


How to enter

  1. Make a video (2-minute maximum length please) about democracy, politics, presidential nominations or whatever this convention season means to you. See the official rules at the bottom of the page.
  2. Upload your video to YouTube and add the tag “iapprovethismessage2008”.
  3. We'll add your video to our YouTube Group and it will show on this page shortly.


Submission guidelines

Length limit: 2 minutes.

Videos should be thoughtful, creative, and avoid hateful and defamatory language or images. We value non-partisan participation and reserve the right to reject designs that are unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable to a reasonable person. Videos may address political issues and candidates, but cannot explicitly endorse or support a specific candidate or political party. We reserve the right to reject videos that don’t meet these qualifications.

We encourage entries to be family-friendly, thoughtful and above all, creative.
