Hindsight is always 20/20
R. Luke DuBois is a multi-faceted artist, musician, filmmaker whose series of works Hindsight is always 20/20 will be exhibited as public art at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
The works are non-partisan in the sense that they are basically a quantitative analysis of word frequency in each of the President’s inaugural speeches since George Washington (except Harrison and Garfield). Laid out as a typical (Snellen) eye chart, they become a somewhat tongue-in-cheek but also surprisingly meaningful test of political acuity. Guess who gave the following speeches:
